Lynn men earn league win over PBA

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Freshman Nordin Kapic collected his sixth double-double of the season to help the Lynn University men's basketball team to an 80-64 win over visiting Palm Beach Atlantic, Wednesday night.
 
The victory snaps a two-game losing skid for the Fighting Knights and improves their overall record to 3-9. The win also places Lynn at 1-6 in league play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights shot 44.3 percent (27-of-61) from the floor
- Lynn made three more three-pointers than the Sailfish and made 11 more free throws
- The Fighting Knights finished 20-of-25 at the foul line on the evening
- Kapic hit a layup at 15:29 to even the contest at 10-10 after Lynn had fallen behind by six points in the early going
- At 13:37, Kapic knocked down a three-pointer for a 15-12 Fighting Knight lead and they would never trail again on the night
- A quick 7-0 run around the midway point of the first half handed Lynn a 23-16 lead
- Junior Jamison Evans hit a three-pointer, graduate Jahmel Meyers and freshman Jalen Gilmore each hit a jumper as the Fighting Knights increased their lead to 10, 32-22
- Gilmore later hit a three-pointer as the Fighting Knights grabbed a 13-point cushion, 37-24
- Lynn led 39-28 at intermission
- Kapic hit a layup and free throw for the first points of the second half for Lynn as the lead increased to 42-30
- Evans hit a three-pointer for a 53-38 lead at 11:50 and another three at 9:02 pushed the lead to 61-42
- Kapic hit two free throws at 7:36 at Lynn led by 21, 63-42
- Freshman Jimel Lane hit a layup with 5:14 to play as the Fighting Knights grabbed their largest lead of the game at 25, 72-47
- Freshman Esteban Lluberes closed the evening with two free throws with 1:06 to play to set the final score at 80-64
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Kapic finished the night with 29 points and 14 rebounds
- Lane added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Evans came off the bench to finish with 13 points
- Gilmore scored nine with seven assists and seven rebounds
