BOCA RATON, Fla. – Sophomore
Ella Fiore scored a career-high 28 points to power Lynn University to a dominating 73-53 win over visiting Palm Beach Atlantic, Wednesday evening.
The win improves the Fighting Knights overall record to 11-4 while they are currently 4-3 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn shot 50.9 percent (27-of-53) from the field, 42.9 percent (6-of-14) from three-point land and 86.7 percent (13-of-15) from the foul line
- Lynn has shot over 50% from the field in seven games this season
- Lynn rolled to a 40-23 lead at halftime behind 44 percent shooting, including a 10-of-12 effort from the foul line
- The Fighting Knights shot 56.0 percent from the field in the second half and made 14 baskets to just nine made baskets for the Sailfish
- Lynn trailed just once in the opening minutes of action
- Back-to-back jumpers from Fiore and sophomore
Kennedi Philson handed the hosts a 15-7 lead with 3:14 left in the first

Danielle Montelbano closed the opening quarter with a driving layup as time expired for a 19-10 lead for Lynn

Meghan Cramb opened the second quarter scoring for Lynn with two free throws two minutes into action for a 21-14 advantage

Rachel Romich hit a free throw just past the midway point of the second quarter as the Fighting Knights led by 10, 28-18
- Cramb hit two free throws at 1:09 and Fiore knocked down a jumper with 54 seconds left as Lynn led by 18, 40-22 late in the second quarter

Makayla Hemingway hit a layup with 2:09 left as the lead swelled to 24, 59-34
- Fiore hit a jumper at 6:11 in the fourth and freshman
Emilie Black hit a layup with 4:44 to play as the Fighting Knights increased their lead to a game-high 27, 68-41
- Lynn turned 25 PBA turnovers into 15 points
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Fiore scored 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting (70.5%) with four steals and two rebounds
- Hemingway, Montelbano and Philson each added nine points
- Philson grabbed a game-high five rebounds with two blocks, while Hemingway had three rebounds, two assists and two steals
