ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Junior
Aline Olegario smacked a match-high 16 kills as Lynn University suffered a 3-1 setback at Eckerd in SSC action, Friday night. The Fighting Knights settle at 12-6 overall and 6-4 in the league after losing 25-23, 17-25, 25-17 and 25-22.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights hit just .152 for the match with 49 kills
- The Tritons outpaced Lynn in aces (7-4), blocks (11-4) and assists (47-45)
- Eckerd jumped out to an 8-3 edge in set one before Lynn rebounded for a 9-8 lead
- The Fighting Knights led by five on several occasions before the hosts posted two kills and took advantage of two errors for the 25-23 win
- Lynn hit .273 in set two and rolled to the 25-17 win
- The visitors opened up a 5-0 cushion and later used an 8-1 run for a 16-8 lead
- Olegario posted two kills and an error on the Tritons gave Lynn the set two win
- The Fighting Knights hit just .061 and .071 over the final two sets
- Eckerd led 14-5 in set three before winning 25-17
- The hosts rallied from a 15-9 deficit in the fourth and final set with an 8-1 scoring outburst
- Erin Garr posted two kills late in the set for a 25-22 win
