Jontoft powers Lynn to victory over Saint Leo

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University women's soccer team won its fourth match of the season on Saturday evening, defeating Saint Leo 1-0. The Fighting Knights were led by sophomore Saga Jontoft, who scored the winning goal in the Sunshine State Conference win. With Saturday night's victory, Lynn snapped an eight-game winless streak and earned its first conference win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Brisa Sastre started the game with urgency, taking a shot within the first 90 seconds
- The Fighting Knights kept the pressure on in the first 22 minutes, highlighted by freshman Isabella Battista powering a free kick shot just over the bar
- Freshman keeper Brooke Auth stepped up for Lynn in the last 20 minutes of the half, recording three saves to preserve a clean sheet going into the break
- The second half started off fast, with both teams putting an emphasis on their attacks
- Graduate Evelin Dapprich put a shot on frame in the 64th minute, but it was saved by the Lions' keeper Amit Beilin
- In the 71st minute, sophomore Tyler Vance played a free kick into the box where Jontoft was in position, heading in into the net and giving the Fighting Knights a 1-0 lead
- Auth saved another shot in the 78th minute, helping preserve Lynn's advantage
- The final 12 minutes were tense, but the Fighting Knights were able to secure a 1-0 win
