ORLANDO, Fla. – The Lynn University volleyball team opened the 2023 Sunshine State Conference/Gulf South Conference Region Crossover with a 3-0 sweep of Alabama-Huntsville, Friday evening. Lynn won 26-24, 25-22 and 29-27 and improves to 14-6 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn outpaced the Mustangs in points (58-48), kills (46-36), aces (9-4), assists (46-31) and digs (68-54)
- Huntsville held an 8-3 edge in blocks
- The Fighting Knights hit .167 and .122 in the first and third sets and .316 in the second
- Lynn led 6-2 and 11-7 in the first set
- Huntsville rebounded and nearly took the set as it held a 24-21 lead
- Graduate
Dayana Chara smacked three kills to lead Lynn's comeback and a 26-24 win
- The Fighting Knights never trailed in set two and used a 6-0 scoring jolt for an 18-6 lead
- Junior
Aline Olegario posted a late kill to help Lynn fend off the Mustangs for a 25-22 win

Maria Cecilia Pinho smacked two kills and the Fighting Knights took a 13-11 lead in the third set
- The Fighting Knights later used a 7-1 run for a 20-15 edge and a 4-0 spurt for a 24-17 advantage
- Huntsville rebounded with a 9-1 run for leads of 26-25 and 27-26
- The Fighting Knights closed the evening with a late kill from graduate
Samantha Wolf for a 28-27 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Olegario led the way with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage
- Wolf posted 10 kills and a career-best 21 digs
