ORLANDO Fla. – The Lynn University volleyball team closed the 2023 Sunshine State Conference/Gulf South Conference Crossover with two more 3-0 shutouts, Saturday.
The Fighting Knights dominated both West Georgia and Valdosta State as they improved their overall record to 16-6. Lynn hit .255 against West Georgia and hit .366 against Valdosta, their second-highest mark of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED (West Georgia):
- Lynn posted winning scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-17
- The Fighting Knights hit .152 and .176 in the first two sets and closed with a .452
- Lynn led in points (58-28), kills (41-20), aces (9-3), blocks (8-5), assists (39-16) and digs (50-37)
- The Fighting Knights posted 9-1 and 8-1 runs in the first set to take control and a late kill from junior
Aline Olegario sealed the 25-15 victory
- Lynn never trailed in the second set and took advantage of six errors from the Wolves for an 8-2 lead
- Two kills from graduate
Dayana Chara helped Lynn extend its lead to 23-10
- West Georgia narrowed the gap to 23-16 before a kill from graduate
Samantha Wolf and a service ace from graduate
Paige Barash sealed the 25-16 win
- Lynn posted a 7-1 scoring jolt in the third set for a 13-8 lead and a 5-1 run closed the match with a 25-17 win in set three
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Olegario hit .450 with 12 kills
- Chara smacked 10 kills and hit an impressive .588
- Wolf added nine kills and five digs

Emily Edwards handed out 35 assists with six digs

HOW IT HAPPENED (Valdosta State):
- Lynn posted winning scores of 25-20, 25-8, 25-8
- The Fighting Knights hit .333, .400 and .367, respectively in the three sets
- Lynn led in points (57-24), kills (43-18), aces (5-3), blocks (9-3), assists (35-17) and digs (40-32)
- The Fighting Knights rolled to a 10-3 lead in the opener
- Olegario smacked three kills over the middle of the set for a 19-15 edge
- Wolf put an exclamation point on the first set with the final two kills for a 25-20 win
- The Fighting Knights powered to a 17-5 lead in set two behind a 10-0 run
- Junior
Maria Cecilia Pinho smacked two kills during the outburst
- Lynn closed on a 7-1 run for the 25-8 win
- The Fighting Knights were just as dominant in the third and final set jumping out to a 9-0 cushion
- Lynn later posted a 10-0 run as Wolf and Olegario dominated the outburst
- Wolf had a kill and three consecutive service aces, while Olegario posted three-straight kills
- Chara had two kills and Edwards capped the Crossover with a kill for a 25-8 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:

Kenidy Howard had seven kills and four blocks
