TAMPA, Fla. – The Lynn University volleyball team endured a narrow defeat at No. 2 Tampa, 3-2, Friday evening. The Fighting Knights fall to 16-7 overall and 7-5 in the SSC. Tampa is now 21-0 and 12-0 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tampa won sets one (25-16), three (25-13) and five (15-11)
- The Fighting Knights collected wins in sets two (25-20) and four (27-25)
- The Spartans led in kills (67-51), blocks (13-7), assists (62-45) and digs (98-80)
- The Spartans used a 5-0 scoring jolt in set one for a 24-15 lead before winning 25-15
- Lynn never trailed in set three and jumped out to a 7-1 cushion
- Two kills from junior
Maria Cecilia Pinho handed the visitors a 17-10 lead
- A kill from junior
Aline Olegario and two late errors from Tampa sealed the 25-20 victory
- Two 4-0 and two 3-0 runs put the hosts firmly in control in set three before winning 25-13
- Olegario smacked back-to-back kills in set four as Lynn knotted things at 8-8

Kenidy Howard posted kills as Lynn grabbed a 14-12 lead

- Tampa took advantage of three early Lynn errors and a 4-1 run gave the hosts a 9-5 lead
- The Fighting Knights closed the gap to 12-10 before the Spartans capped the match with a 3-1 run
