No. 24 Lynn defeats NSU, 2-1

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The 24th ranked Lynn men's soccer team defeated Nova Southeastern in a non-conference match Wednesday night, 2-1. The Fighting Knights received goals from Luis Kiefer and Jaiden Selden in the club's final match of the regular season. The 10-2-4 (4-2-4 in the SSC) Fighting Knights now wait to find out who their opponent will be for the first round of the SSC Tournament, where they will host a match on Monday, Nov. 6 at 6 pm.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- The Fighting Knights took the first shot of the match on a strike by Luis Kiefer at 16:30  
- Luis Kiefer scored on a header from a free kick by Kymani King to put the Fighting Knights ahead, 1-0, in the 35th minute 
- Lynn held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks at the half 
- Luca Clavero made a save at point blank on a short-hopped header by the Sharks to prevent the equalizer just three minutes into the second half 
- Lynn and NSU each attempted a pair of shots in the first 12 minutes of the second frame 
- Jaiden Selden scored on a put back off a Patrick O'Halloran shot to give Lynn a two-goal edge at 58:16 
- The Sharks were awarded a penalty shot and Alessandro Salvedego was able to capitalize with a goal to cut Lynn's lead to 2-1 in the 68th minute 
- The Fighting Knights were able to control possession for much of the final 20 minutes to secure the victory 

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Lynn outshot Nova 10-6 and owned a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal 
- Kiefer led all players with four shots  
- Kiefer now leads the team with 5 goals and 12 points 
- O'Halloran collected his third assist of 2023 
- King now has 3 points on the season (1 G, 1 A) 
- Joao Assis Negrao added two shots 
- Clavero picked up his 10th win of the season 
- Lynn finishes the season with a +17-goal differential (27 goals for, 10 goals against)
