Mocadlo, Fiore lead Lynn to 2-0 start

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Lynn University women's basketball team won its second matchup of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Christian Brothers, 80-57. The Fighting Knights were led by a 16-point performance from freshman Trinity Mocadlo and a 15-point, 4-rebound and 4-assist output from senior Ella Fiore in the final game of the Gulf South/Sunshine State Crossover. Mocadlo and Fiore dominated the game with efficiency, combining for 31 points on 92.3% from the field (12-of-13).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn jumped out to an early 9-7 lead with graduate Carly Stroemel (6) and Fiore (3) leading the charge
- Freshman Alana Francis, graduate student Rachel Romich, senior Danielle Montelbano and Fiore each contributed to an 8-2 run that helped give the Fighting Knights a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter
- Stroemel and Fiore opened the second quarter with five-consecutive points after a CBU basket
- The Bucs regained some momentum, but baskets from junior Makayla Hemingway, Fiore and Mocadlo kept Lynn in front, 28-19, with just under five minutes remaining in the first half
- CBU lowered its deficit to six points before graduate student Bella Sparaco went on a 3-0 run of her own, giving Lynn a 33-22 cushion
- After a 4-0 run from the Bucs, Lynn went into the halftime break leading 33-26
- Fiore and Stroemel opened the half with consecutive buckets for Lynn
- Graduate Marianna Klavina caught fire, hitting back-to-back three-pointers to extend the Fighting Knights' lead to 43-29
- Sparaco scored Lynn's next 6 points, pushing the advantage to 51-36 with just over two minutes left in the third quarter
- Romich scored five-consecutive points, helping the Fighting Knights go into the final quarter leading 58-40
- Fiore (3), Francis (2) and Mocadlo (4) contributed points while extending Lynn's lead to 25 points
- Graduate student Taylor Boruff and Mocadlo hit two three-pointers each down the stretch, helping the Fighting Knights close out an 80-57 victory 

FIGHTING KNIGHTS STATS:
- Lynn shot 61.5% from the field in the first quarter
- Fiore led the game with 5 points in the second quarter
- Sparaco and Klavina both scored 6 points in a 25-point third quarter
- Mocadlo dominated the final quarter, scoring 10 points on 100% from the field
- Lynn shot 4-for-4 on three-pointers in the final frame
- Three Fighting Knights reached double figures – Mocadlo (16), Fiore (15) and Stroemel (12)
