Wolf double-double powers Lynn over Saint Leo

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Graduate Samantha Wolf posted a double-double with 20 kills and 11 digs to help power Lynn University to its seventh-consecutive win with a 3-1 victory over Saint Leo, Friday night.
 
Lynn heads into senior day and its regular-season finale with Eckerd (tomorrow at 4:00 pm) with a 23-7 overall record and a 14-5 SSC record.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn took sets one and two by scores of 25-14 and 25-16 before the Lions captured the third set 25-19
- The Fighting Knights rebounded from a five-point deficit in the fourth set for a 25-21 win
- Lynn held leads in kills (57-47), aces (8-5), blocks (11-5), assists (53-41) and digs (66-58)
- The hosts stormed out of the gates in set one with a 7-1 lead behind a 7-0 run
- Lynn increased its lead to 10 at 13-3 and 17-7 and two Wolf kills further increased the lead to 23-12
- Graduates Emily Edwards and Kenidy Howard posted a block for the final point and a 25-14 win
- Wolf smacked four kills early in set two as Lynn led 6-2
- The Fighting Knights led 17-13 and they later added an 8-2 run for a 25-16 win
- Howard posted two kills, while Wolf had a kill and a service in the third set as the hosts led 13-11
- The Lions captured the win with a 6-0 scoring spurt and a 5-1 run for a 22-17 lead
- Saint Leo used a kill and service ace late in the third game for a 25-19 win
- The Lions carried that momentum in the fourth set by opening up a 5-1 advantage and later used a 6-1 run for a 13-8 lead
- Graduate Paige Barash smacked a kill that started a 6-2 run that trimmed the Fighting Knight deficit to 15-14
- A pair of errors from Saint Leo and a kill from Wolf handed Lynn its first lead at 21-20
- Two more kills from Wolf and one from junior Maria Cecilia Pinho gave Lynn a 25-21 win
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Wolf hit .381
- Graduate Dayana Chara smacked 11 kills and Howard added eight kills
- Junior Aline Olegario posted eight kills, four aces, eight blocks and two digs
- Edwards handed out 48 assists with 10 digs
- Graduate Breeanna Long led the Fighting Knights with 15 digs
- Barash had 12 digs
