DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Junior
Aline Olegario smacked 19 kills to lead four Lynn volleyball players with 10 or more kills as the Fighting Knights rallied past Embry-Riddle for a 3-2 win, Thursday.
The Fighting Knights dropped the first set, 25-23, before rallying with 25-17 and 25-22 wins in sets two and three. The Eagles evened the match after winning the fourth set, 25-17. Lynn survived the SSC showdown with a 15-13 win in the fifth set.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The win is the sixth five-set match this season for the Fighting Knights
- The visitors hit just .209 on the evening, but posted a .324 hitting percentage in the fifth set
- Lynn led in kills (69-57), assists (64-54) and digs (97-89)
- The Eagles used scoring runs of 5-0 and 3-0 to take control in the first set, 21-19
- Hunter Ackerman smacked a late kill to give the hosts a 25-23 win
- Graduate
Samantha Wolf posted two kills as part of a 7-2 run for Lynn as it led 16-12 in set two

- Wolf later posted two more kills as the Fighting Knights closed the set on a 6-1 run for a 25-17 win
- Olegario opened the third set with three kills and Lynn took a 13-8 cushion
- The Eagles used a 5-0 run to knot things at 16
- Lynn posted a 3-0 run, Wolf had an ace and graduate
Emily Edwards posted a kill to help win set three 25-22
- Embry-Riddle grabbed an 8-6 advantage in set four and slowly increased its edge to 17-12
- The Eagles posted three kills late in the set for a 25-17 win
- The Fighting Knights hit .324 in the fifth set with 12 kills and just one error
- Olegario and Wolf smacked two kills each as Lynn led 4-3 in the fifth
- Embry rebounded to hold leads of 11-9 and 12-10

- Olegario and Wolf smacked back-to-back kills as Lynn tied the set at 12-12
- The Fighting Knights closed the match as Wolf and graduate
Dayana Chara each posted a kill for the 15-13 win

- Chara finished with 16 kills and a .351 hitting percentage
