Lynn defeated by visiting Embry-Riddle

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The freshman duo of Jimel Lane and Nordin Kapic each scored in double figures as the Lynn University men's basketball team lost 79-53 to Embry-Riddle at the de Hoernle Sports & Cultural Center, Wednesday night.
 
Lynn falls to 4-15 overall and 2-12 in the Sunshine State Conference.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Embry-Riddle never trailed in the game and shot 51.1 percent (24-of-47) from the field
- The Eagles outscored the Fighting Knights 36-20 in the paint and had three starters in double figures
- The Fighting Knights shot 36.0 percent (18-of-50) and were outscored 41-26 in the first half and 38-27 in the second
- Lynn fell behind by seven early on and battled back to tie the game at 13-13
- Lane hit back-to-back baskets and then knocked down a three-pointer at 11:52 that evened things at 13-13
- Lane hit another three-pointer at 8:37 to pull Lynn to within four points at 20-16
- A quick 7-1 scoring run handed Embry-Riddle its first 10-point lead, 29-19, with 4:35 to play in the first half
- The Eagles continued their surge and led by 16, 39-23 late in the half before taking a 41-26 lead into intermission
- Junior Braxton Bartlett hit a jumper just past five minutes into the second half that pulled Lynn to within 49-31
- Kapic made a jumper at 13:05 and junior Jamison Evans slammed home a fastbreak dunk at 12:36 as the Fighting Knights trailed just 55-36
- Kapic scored five-straight points over a 2:34 stretch to bring Lynn's deficit to 70-46 at 3:22
- Freshman Rickey Ballard brought the scoring to a close with a free throw and a layup for the game's final points
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
-  Lane finished with 18 points, five rebounds and two blocks
- Kapic added 11 points and four rebounds
- Freshman Jalen Gilmore scored seven with six assists
