BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn men's basketball freshman Jalen Gilmore had a team-high 18 points in an 81-66 loss to Saint Leo, Saturday. The Fighting Knights are 4-20 overall and 2-17 in the Sunshine State Conference this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman Nordin Kapic scored six of Lynn's first eight points as the score was tied, 8-8, with 15:16 left in the first half
- Saint Leo's Marty Jackson hit a three to give the visitors a 20-12 lead with 9:16 left in the first half
- Freshman Rickey Ballard's layup made it a six-point game with 7:22 left in the opening frame
- Junior Braxton Bartlett hit a three to make the score 25-21 at the 5:08 mark
- Saint Leo followed with a 7-0 run and ended the half up by 10, 38-28
- The Lions took a 15 point lead early in the second half after Logan Ryan hit a three
- Lynn went on a 13-4 run, highlighted by sophomore Montez Leath's layup, a Bartlett three and two three-pointers by Gilmore
- The Lions went on a 12-3 run to give Saint Leo a 65-50 lead with 9:49 left in the game
- Saint Leo led by as much as 20 and held on for an 81-66 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Gimore dished out six assists to go along with his 18 points and went 4-for-6 from deep
- Kapic posted his fifth straight double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds
- Bartlett added 15 points and seven rebounds
- Leath tied a season high with six assists
