BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn softball team won both ends of a home doubleheader with Fort Lauderdale, 8-0 (5 Inn.) and 9-1 (5 Inn.), Wednesday. The two victories improved the Fighting Knights overall record to 7-4 this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):

Adriana Otero single to give Lynn a 2-0 lead
- The Fighting Knights led 3-0 after one inning when

Morgan Simpson singled, stole two bases and scored to give the Fighting Knights a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third
- Maya Reinhart hit a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth to put Lynn up 6-0
- The Fighting Knights added two more runs in the fifth inning to put the mercy rule in effect and end the game, 8-0
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (GAME 1):
- Fardanesh pitched five innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and zero runs while striking out two Eagles batters
- Otero extended her hitting streak to six games
- T. Scala stole a base in her sixth consecutive game
- Galioto stole her eighth base of the season and went 1-for-2 to raise her average to .417
- The Fighting Knights set a season-high mark by drawing eight walks in the game one win
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):
- Katie Adkins drove in the first run of the game to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning
- The Fighting Knights took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning after a T. Scala single scored
Josey Sumpter, a
Morgan Simpson single scored T. Scala and Simpson scored on an Otero groundout
- Miller hit a two-run double into the right-center field gap in the bottom of the fourth to give the Fighting Knights a 5-1 advantage
- Lynn continued to rally in the fourth after Miller scored on a Fort Lauderdale error and Simpson drove in Galioto with a base hit
- The Fighting Knights ended the game in five innings after
Destiny Torres and
Monique Poitevin scored to put Lynn up by eight runs, 9-1
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (GAME 2):
- Simpson went 2-for-3 with a double, run scored, two runs batted in, and two stolen bases
- Simpson was 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts in the doubleheader and is now 9-for-9 on the season

Eliza Gonzalez and
Josey Sumpter each pitched a scoreless inning
- Miller pitched two perfect innings to pick up her first win of 2023 while driving in two runs and hitting her second double of the season at the plate
- Nine different Fighting Knights scored in the win as the team set their season-high in runs scored in a game
- Lynn stole six bases to tie their most in a game this season
- Lynn pitchers have not allowed an extra-base hit during their three-game win streak
- The Fighting Knights did not commit an error in either game of the doubleheader and have played a clean game defensively in five of their last six games
