BOCA RATON, Fla. – Senior
Josey Sumpter smacked a two-run home run in the sixth inning to lift the Lynn University softball team to a 2-1 come-from-behind win against Florida Tech in the opener of the three-game series, Friday afternoon. The victory lifts the Fighting Knights to 8-4 overall on the season and 7-2 at home.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams finished with five hits
- All three runs in the contest came in the sixth inning
- The Panthers plated the game's first run in the top half of the frame
- Ella Gibson singled to right field, while Whitney Ellis advanced to second before an error on the Lynn defense allowed Ellis to score for a 1-0 lead
- In the home half of the inning, senior
Faith Miller led off the frame with a walk, before the inning's third batter, Sumpter smacked the ball over the center field fence scoring Miller for the 2-1 lead

Haley Fardanesh sat down all three Panther batters in the seventh to secure the win
- Fardanesh hurled a 7.0 inning gem in the circle, scattering five hits while allowing just the one unearned run
- She now has three wins on the season, all coming at home. In those three wins, she has tossed 16.1 innings with 12 hits and just one unearned run
- Lynn threatened in the fourth as Miller singled to lead off the inning and later advanced to third
- Florida Tech secured the final two outs of the frame to keep Miller on third
