BOCA RATON, Fla. - After a win on Friday, the Lynn softball team split their doubleheader with Florida Tech on Saturday to take two of three against their conference opponent over the weekend. Lynn dropped the first game, 1-9, but bounced back in the second game with a 2-0 victory.
Lynn is now 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):
- The first four Panthers batters reached base en route to a three-run top of the first inning

Taylor Scala walked, stole second and later scored to make the score 3-1 in favor of Florida Tech after one inning
- Florida Tech added three more runs in the second inning, highlighted by a Mikayla Lewin RBI double
- FIT scored two more runs in the fifth inning to end the game
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):
- In the bottom of the first inning, T. Scala walked, stole second and later scored on an
Eliza Gonzalez base hit

Morgan Simpson drove in Gonzalez to put the Fighting Knights up 2-0 after one inning
- Fighting Knights starting pitcher
Haley Fardanesh retired eleven straight batters between the second and fifth inning
- With two outs and runners on second and third in the top of the sixth, Fardanesh induced a weak pop out to second base to get out of the jam
- Fardanesh closed the game out with a scoreless seventh inning to pitch the shutout
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- T. Scala went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two walk and three stolen bases on the day
- T. Scala now has a team-leading 12 steals on the season
- Lovins recorded a hit in each game, going 2-for-3 with a double overall
- Simpson drove in a run in each game to give her four RBI in her last four games played
- Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI in game two and is hitting .500 in conference play this season
- Fardanesh tosses a complete-game shutout in game two, allowing four hits, one walk and striking out four batters
