BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University Fighting Knights came away with a comfortable 23-point win against Florida Southern, 69-46, Saturday and took sole possession of fourth in the SSC in the process. Lynn shot 55% in the game and posted a strong defensive effort that held the Mocasins to just 29% shooting from the field.
 
The Fighting Knights move to 16-7 overall on the season, including a 9-6 record in the league.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:  
- Lynn outscored Florida Southern in the first three quarters and led by as many as 25 points in the fourth
- The Fighting Knights held a 37-19 lead at halftime after holding the Mocs to nine points in the second quarter
- The win is the 13th game this season in which the Fighting Knights have shot 50% from the field
- Lynn outscored Florida Southern in the paint 36-14 
- Sophomore Ella Fiore made three layups early to give Lynn an 8-5 lead at 6:14
- Graduate Jada Marone and sophomore Rachel Romich hit threes in the closing minutes of the opening quarter as the Fighting Knights led 18-10 after one
- Graduate student Lucija Kostic finished the first with two points, two steals, two assists and a block
- Sophomore Kennedi Philson hit a layup early in the second quarter for a 20-10 lead
- Marone hit a three-pointer followed by a layup at 5:06 for a 28-15 advantage
- Marone knocked down another three at 1:32 as Lynn led 33-15
- Fiore added a layup as the Fighting Knights led 37-19 at halftime
- Lynn pushed its lead to 20 early in the third quarter and Kostic hit a jumper for a 43-21 lead at 8:05
- Fiore made a layup before the midway point of the third for a 23-point cushion, 47-24
- Graduate student Loie Webb closed the third quarter scoring with a three-pointer for a 59-35 lead
- The Fighting Knights kept their lead over 20 for the entire fourth frame and pushed their advantage to 25 points twice in the closing minutes
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Nine different Lynn players scored on the afternoon
- Marone and Fiore each scored 17 points to pace Lynn
- Marone added seven rebounds, three three-pointers, two assists a block and a steal
- Fiore snagged four steals
- Sophomore Danielle Montelbano scored six points with four rebounds and four assists
