Fighting Knights lose on road to Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Freshman Nordin Kapic scored 26 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in an 82-58 loss to Barry on Wednesday night.  

The Fighting Knights drop to 4-17 overall and 2-14 in the Sunshine State Conference.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  
- Kapic opened the scoring for the Fighting Knights with a three-point play  
- The Buccaneers went on a 13-0 run to make the score 17-3 with 12:59 left in the first half 
- Kapic scored Lynn's first eight points before freshman Jalen Gilmore made a layup to cut the Barry lead to 10, 20-10, at the 9:39 mark 
- Rusty Moorer scored five straight points to put Barry up 43-20 with 1:33 left in the first half 
- A Gilmore free throw closed the half with Lynn down by 24 
- Lynn opened the second half with a Gilmore three pointer and a dunk by freshman Rickey Ballard to cut the Barry lead to 45-26 with 19:17 to play 
- After a 6-0 run by the Buccaneers, the Fighting Knights responded with a 7-0 run that was finished off by a JP Baron layup 
- Kapic cut the Barry lead to 16, 58-42, after scoring seven points in a span of 1:14 
- Barry's Tyler Hawkins scored six points during an 11-0 run to give Barry a 69-42 advantage with 6:51 left 
- Junior Jamison Evans hit two three pointers during a Lynn 8-2 run with 2:07 remaining in the game 
- Two Baron free throws finished the scoring for an 82-58 final 

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:  
- Kapic had a game-high 26 points and 17 rebounds, his tenth double-double of the season 
- Evans and Gilmore added 10 points each 
- Evans went 2-for-5 from three and leads the team with 34 three point field goals this season 
- Gilmore had a team-high five assists and his 4.9 assists per game this season ranks third in the SSC 
- Kapic is the only player in the SSC to average more than ten rebounds per game (10.1) 
- Kapic ranks sixth in the conference in scoring at 19.3 points per game
