BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University softball team dropped a non-conference twinbill with Kutztown, Monday afternoon. The Fighting Knights lost game one, 5-1 (8 Inn.), and endured a 4-1 loss in the second game.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Hannah Reimel handed the visitors a quick 1-0 lead with a run-producing double in the top of the second inning
- Lynn junior
Morgan Simpson evened the contest at 1-1 in the sixth frame when she singled home senior
Faith Miller
- Neither team scored in the seventh and the opener headed to extra innings
- The Golden Bears took control from that point on with four runs in the eighth inning highlighted by a pair of RBI singles

Haley Fardanesh suffered the loss after allowing just three earned runs in 7.0 innings pitched

Maiya Reinhart was 1-for-2 and scored Lynn's only run

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- The night cap started as a pitchers dual as Lynn starter
Josey Sumpter and Kutztown starter Natalee Harvey surrendered just six hits through five innings with six strikeouts
- The Fighting Knights got on the board first when Lovins doubled in the bottom of the fifth inning and later scored on a fielder's choice from graduate student

- Kutztown rallied in the top of the sixth when Kate Ostaszewski doubled in a run following by a run producing single from Harvey
- The Golden Bears tacked on two more in the seventh for a 4-1 cushion
- In their final inning, the Fighting Knights threatened when sophomore
Sofia Jimenez opened with a double
- Fardanesh pinch ran for Jimenez and Lovins singled to advance Fardanesh to third
- Kutztown picked up two quick outs when Fardanesh was thrown out at home on a ground out and the Golden Bears struckout the next batter
- Scala singled and pushed Lovins to second to keep the inning alive before a ground out ended the game
- Sumpter suffered the loss after tossing 5.1 innings with six hits, two earned runs and four strikeouts
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 2):
- Scala finished 3-for-4
- Lovins was 2-for-4 with a run
- Jimenez was 1-for-3
