BOCA RATON, Fla. - David Judge's go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning capped off Lynn's 5-4 comeback win over New Haven on Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Knights are now 11-9-1 in 2023.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- AJ Orrico led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run to open the scoring for Lynn
- The Chargers tied the game in the top of the second after Robert Taylor reached, stole second and scored on a single
- Lynn took a 2-1 lead after Judge's single to center field drove home Deric LaMontagne
- New Haven's Andrew Bianco tied the game with an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning
- New Haven opened the top of the sixth inning with three straight hits that led to two runs in the inning
- After Judge, Leon Paulino and Byron Murray walked to lead off the seventh inning, Shawn Dougherty hit an RBI single and Paulino later scored on a throwing error to tie the game, 4-4
- The Fighting Knights took the lead in the bottom of the eighth after LaMontagne walked and later scored on a clutch RBI single by Judge
- In the top of the ninth, New Haven led off the inning with a walk, but the runner was later doubled up at first after a running catch by right fielder Ryan Ford
- Relief pitcher Eric Heatter struck out the final batter of the game to seal the 5-4 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Judge went 2-for-3 with two walks, a run scored and two RBI
- In his last five games, Judge is hitting .526 (10-for-19) with seven runs, 12 RBI, two home runs and six walks
- Orrico's first home run of the season extended his hitting streak to 11 games and he has now reached base safely in all 21 games this season
- Murray went 1-for-3 with two walks, has now walked 13 times over his last seven games and leads the SSC with 26 free passes this season
- Dougherty posted his seventh multi-hit game of 2023
- The Fighting Knights drew seven walks in the win and lead the SSC with 119 BB this season (5.7 BB/G)
