Fighting Knights fall to Rollins, 6-3

BOCA RATON, Fla – The Lynn baseball team lost to Rollins, 6-3, in the rubber game of their three-game weekend series on Sunday afternoon. Shawn Dougherty had two hits, including a home run, and 3 RBI in the Fighting Knights loss. 

Lynn is now 8-7-1 overall and 2-4 in the Sunshine State Conference. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Rollins scored one run in the first inning and two runs in the second inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead 
- The Tars added a fourth run in the third on a Cam Meehan RBI single 
- The Fighting Knights cut the lead in half on a Shawn Dougherty two-run homer 
- Ryan Coleman's RBI single gave the Tars a 5-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning 
- Lynn scored their third run when Leon Paulino doubled and later scored on a Dougherty fielder's choice 
- Rollins answered with a run in the top of the seventh on an Adam Torres RBI single to give the road team a 6-3 lead 
- Relief pitcher JP Perez entered in the middle of the eighth inning and got out of a bases loaded jam with a strikeout 
- The Fighting Knights were held scoreless over the final three innings as the game ended with the score 6-3 

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Dougherty hit his second home run of the season and has six RBI over his last three games 
- Paulino hit a double and scored a run in all three games of the series against Rollins 
- Byron Murray went 1-for-2 with a run scored and two walks  
- Murray has reached via base on balls or intentional walk eleven times over his last six games and now has a .434 on-base percentage this season 
- AJ Orrico extended his on-base streak to 16 games to start the season and leads the team with a .450 OBP 
- Relief pitcher Nathan Shane struck out six batters over five innings, allowing three earned runs 
- Relief pitchers Drew Clark, Shane Wills and JP Perez combined to pitch three scoreless innings
