BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University softball team suffered a pair of losses to close a three-game series with Embry-Riddle, Saturday in SSC action. The Fighting Knights dropped game one of the doubleheader, 6-1, and fell in the nightcap, 5-1. Lynn is now 17-21 overall on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Lynn took an early 1-0 lead in the opener following a run-producing double in the first inning
- Senior
Taylor Scala led off the game with a walk before stealing second
- Scala scored the Fighting Knights' only run when graduate student
Adriana Otero smacked a two-out double
- Lynn starter
Josey Sumpter had things rolling in the circle as she allowed just six hits through five innings
- The Eagles rebounded and took control with five runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh
- Embry-Riddle smacked two homers in the sixth and scored on an error in the seventh
- Otero finished with two hits, both doubles
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Embry-Riddle got on the board early with two runs in the first inning on a pair of RBI singles
- The Fighting Knights threatened in the fifth frame when Sumpter led off the inning with a walk
- She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and advanced to third when senior
Faith Miller singled
- The Eagles got a strikeout to strand both Sumpter and Miller on base
- Embry-Riddle added three runs in the top of the sixth to extend its lead to 5-0
- In the seventh, Lynn loaded the bases with just one out

Aryana Galioto singled home junior
Maiya Reinhart for Lynn's only run, but the Eagles defense collected a double play following the run to end the afternoon
- Sumpter and Miller finished 1-for-1, while Galioto was 1-for-3 with an RBI
