LAKELAND, Fla. - Aymee Godmaire scored twice and Morgan Simpson stole her 29th base of the season but the Lynn softball team lost to Florida Southern, 10-3, Thursday night. The Fighting Knights are now 17-22 overall and 7-12 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mocs scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning
- Lynn scored two runs in the top of the third inning to get within one run
- Aryana Galioto walked and later scored on a wild pitch
- Godmaire doubled and later scored for the second run of the frame
- Florida Southern used four singles in the fourth inning to score two runs and take a 5-2 lead
- Josey Sumpter drove in Godmaire with a single in the fifth inning for Lynn's third and final run of the game
- The Mocs rallied for five runs in the fifth, led by Kelsey Peck's two-run home run, to take a 10-3 lead
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Starting pitcher Haley Fardanesh threw four innings and only allowed one earned run to lower her season ERA to 2.77
- Godmaire went 1-for-2 with a double, walk and two runs scored
- Morgan Simpson stole a base and ranks third in the SSC with 29 stolen bases this season
- Sumpter leads the team with 22 RBI
- The Fighting Knights drew five walks in the loss and have reached via base-on-balls 14 times in their last four games
