Fighting Knights lose to Sailfish in neutral site game

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Lynn baseball dropped their Tuesday night game against Palm Beach Atlantic, 9-5. The game was played at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches and featured 11 Fighting Knight hits, including John Rodriguez's sixth homer of 2023. 

Lynn is now 14-20-1 overall this season.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- John Rodriguez gave the Fighting Knights the lead with a two-run home run in the top of the second inning 
- The Sailfish tied the game in the third inning, but Lynn responded with a run in the top of the fourth inning  
- AJ Orrico walked, stole second and scored on a throwing error to give Lynn a 3-2 lead 
- PBA scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 6-3 edge 
- David Judge led off the seventh with a single and later scored on a Ryan Ford base hit 
- The Sailfish scored three more runs in the seventh with help from a hit by pitch, walk, double and two singles 
- Cristian Otero scored Lynn's fifth and final run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Judge 

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Byron Murray reached base three times and leads the team with a .464 OB% this season 
- Orrico reached base three times and scored his 38th run of the season, which ranks fifth in the SSC 
- Leon Paulino extended his hitting streak to nine games and has 16 hits over the stretch 
- Judge tallied two RBI and his 34 on the season ranks tied for sixth in the SSC 
- Deric LaMontagne has hit safely in seven straight games and 11 of his last 12 contests 
- Ford has six multi-hit games over his last 13 contests 
- Rodriguez hit his sixth homer of the season and remains the only player in the conference with at least five homers and 10 steals (6, 11) 
- Relief pitchers Austin Barnao and Jared Terefenco each pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one hit and striking out one batter

Lynn travels to Saint Leo this weekend, with the first game between the two Sunshine State Conference schools taking place on Friday, April 14, at 6:00 pm.
