BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn baseball lost its second game of their series with Nova Southeastern, 11-6, Saturday afternoon. David Judge recorded his seventh and eighth hits over his last three games and Leon Paulino clubbed his ninth home run of the season as part of a four-run ninth inning, but the loss drops the Fighting Knights to 15-24-1 overall and 6-17 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- AJ Orrico led off the bottom of the first with a single and later scored on Leon Paulino's single
- Nova scored two runs in the second inning, led by Stephen Schissler's solo home run
- The Sharks added four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a Derek Bermudez two-run double
- NSU hit their second homer of the game as part of a two-run seventh inning to take an 8-1 lead
- David Judge doubled and later scored for Lynn's second run of the game
- Three hits and a walk in the top of the eighth extended the Sharks lead to 11-2
- Lynn scored four runs in the ninth to end the game at 11-6
- Paulino hit a solo home run to cut the lead to eight runs
- Pedro Martinez hit a sacrifice fly for Lynn's fourth run
- John Rodriguez hit a double, scoring Shawn Dougherty and Oscar Benitez
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Paulino has 39 RBI in 33 games this year while 22 of his 45 hits have gone for extra bases
- Judge recorded a hit for a sixth straight game and is hitting .591 (13-for-22) over the stretch
- Byron Murray walked for a conference-leading 40th time, the most in the SSC in a season since 2018
- Dougherty has posted two hits and scored a run in each game of the series
- Rodriguez's double was his 17th extra-base hit this season (7 HR, 8 2B, 2 3B)
- Relief pitcher Jake McKenna pitched 1.2 clean innings, striking out two batters and lowering his season ERA to 2.70
