BOCA RATON, Fla. – Tyler Romanias tossed five hitless innings of relief as Lynn defeated Florida Southern, 5-1, Thursday afternoon. Yuzuki Okamura broke a 1-1 tie with a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning, helping the Fighting Knights improve to 14-17-1 overall and 5-11 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- AJ Orrico walked and later scored on an error for the game's first run in the bottom of the third inning
- The Mocs tied the game on Drew Cavanaugh's solo home run in the top of the fourth inning
- Lynn starting pitcher Eric Heatter retired nine of the final 10 batters he faced
- Yuzuki Okamura led off the top of the seventh inning with a solo home run to give Lynn a 2-1 lead
- Ryan Ford doubled and later scored on Orrico's bunt single to give the Fighting Knights a two run lead
- Leon Paulino hit a two-run double to give Lynn a four run cushion
- Relief pitcher Tyler Romanias retired 14 of the 16 batters he faced, allowing just one walk and a hit-by-pitch over five innings to earn the win

- Paulino extended his hitting streak to six games and is hitting .444 (12-for-27) with five doubles, one triple, one home run, six runs and seven runs batted in over the stretch
- Okamura homered and walked and is now slashing .325/.440/.470 on the year
- Deric LaMontagne posted his fifth multi-hit game over his last nine contests
- With a hit and two runs scored, Orrico ranks in the top 10 in the SSC in both hits (45) and runs (36)
- Lynn pitchers allowed a season-low two hits in the win
