Djoubri named ITA South Region Rookie of the Year

TEMPE, Ariz. – Lynn University women's tennis freshman Salma Djoubri has been named the 2023 ITA Division II South Region Rookie of the Year after an impressive collegiate debut.
 
Djoubri is Lynn's third ITA Regional Rookie of the Year and first since Valentine Confalonieri was selected in 2013.
 
A native of Caudebec Les Elbeuf, France, Djoubri is the nation's 11th ranked singles player and she paced the Fighting Knights with a 15-4 overall record in the top singles flight, including a 6-1 Sunshine State Conference record.
 
She posted three singles wins against players ranked inside the ITA top-10, including No. 1 Deniz Khazan (Barry), No. 7 Julie Razafindranaly (Nova Southeastern) and No. 8 Marta Vicens (Saint Leo). She also added a pair of wins over No. 21 Haina Franco (West Alabama).
 
In doubles action, Djoubri collected a 16-5 record with six wins coming in the top flight and another 10 victories coming at No. 2 doubles. She closed the spring season with a 7-1 record in her final eight doubles matches.
 
Her all-region honor is her fourth major award this spring as Djoubri was named the SSC Athlete and Freshman of the Year, along with All-SSC First Team singles.
 
Djoubri is eligible for the ITA Rookie of the Year award and the national award winners will be announced next Tuesday, June 6.
