BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University women's soccer team opened its 2023 season with a 1-0 shutout of Saint Anselm, Friday night at Bobby Campbell Stadium. Sophomore
K'La Barnes-Blackwood scored just 15 seconds into the second half for the game's only tally.
Lynn improves its all-time record to 23-11-2 in season-opening matches and Friday's result is the program's 15
th shutout in an opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights outshot the Hawks 9-7, but Anselm held a 4-2 edge in shots on goal
- Lynn freshman keeper
Brooke Auth made four saves, all in the second half to help preserve the clean sheet

- Barnes-Blackwood led both teams with three shots, including two on goal
- Graduate
Addison Crone had a chance for a 1-0 lead 23:03 into action but her free kick sailed just outside the top left corner of the net
- Six minutes later, the Hawks Tara McCleary had her shot hit the left post and ricochet just past the net
- Auth stopped a crossing pass with less than four minutes remaining in the first half to keep the contest tied 0-0 at intermission
- Barnes-Blackwood lifted a shot high in the net past Anselm keeper Maggie Warner off an assist from freshman

- Sophomore
Kayla Bradby had a sharp left-footed shot sail just high at 57:51
- Auth made back-to-back saves at 61:23 and again at 62:40
- Auth's final save might have been her most impressive as she made a diving save to her left to turn away a header from Josie Pecor with just under eight minutes to play
