BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn men's soccer used two second half goals to defeat Palm Beach Atlantic, 2-0, Saturday evening in their first home game of 2023. In what was considered a non-conference match, freshman Oskar Dahlberg and senior Patrick O'Halloran each scored to secure the win. Lynn has opened the season with five consecutive shutouts, outscoring their opponents 12-0 this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After an hour and a half weather delay, kickoff took place just after 7:30 pm
- The physical match started with six fouls prior to the first shot, taken by O'Halloran at 24:56
- The first half ended with 13 fouls while Lynn attempted the only two shots of the frame
- The Sailfish placed their first attempted shot at the 49:12 mark
- Shortly after a free kick, Dahlberg headed a left-footed cross from senior Fabio Menzel to give Lynn a 1-0 lead
- With PBA pressing, O'Halloran took a long pass from sophomore Fabian Vyhnalek with space and buried a shot from the right side over the goalie at 82:28
- Sophomore goalkeeper Luca Clavero posted his fourth shutout of the season and has played 405:00 without allowing a goal in 2023
- The Fighting Knights are 5-0 for the first time since 2017
- Dahlberg leads Lynn with three goals and two game-winning goals this season
- The Fighting Knights 2.4 margin ranks first in the SSC
