FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - No. 10 Lynn men's soccer began Sunshine State Conference play with a 2-2 tie on the road against Nova Southeastern, Wednesday evening. The Fighting Knights came back from a two-goal deficit to earn the point and are now 5-0-1 in 2023.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn attempted the first three shots of the match
- The Sharks scored on their first shot attempt at 9:10, as the Fighting Knights allowed their first goal of the season
- After a foul, NSU was awarded a penalty kick and scored to take a 2-0 lead at the 14:29 mark
- The Fighting Knights fired 10 shots, with four of them on goal, in the first half
- Lynn cut the deficit in half within the first four minutes of the second half
- Senior Patrick O'Halloran scored on a pass from senior Lukas Rietzler at 48:53 for the Fighting Knights first goal
- O'Halloran scored again to tie the match at 65:01 with the assist coming from sophomore Fabian Vyhnalek
- Lynn attempted the final four shots of the match but could not score as the contest ended in a 2-2 draw
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- O'Halloran has three goals over his last two matches and is tied for the team lead with six points this season
- Lynn outshot NSU 20-8, with 10 shots on goal compared to the Sharks three
- Lynn's 20 shots were a season high (previous high was 12 on 8/31 at Spring Hill)
- Vyhnalek led all players with five shots, while O'Halloran, senior Roman Hartleb and senior Fabio Menzel all posted a game-high three shots on goal
