BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University volleyball team survived a determined Florida Southern squad for a 3-2 win, Friday evening at the de Hoernle Sports & Cultural Center.
The win is the eighth straight for the Fighting Knights (9-2, 3-0) this season and 14th-consecutive victory dating back to last season. However, it didn't come easy as Lynn opened the evening with 25-18 and 25-13 wins in the first two sets. The Moccasins (6-3, 1-2) rebounded to even the match at 2-2 after taking set three and four, 25-22 and 25-23, respectively.
The Fighting Knights closed the match with a 15-8 in the fifth set.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn held a slight advantage in hitting percentage (.132-.124) and bested the Mocs in kills (59-47), aces (9-2), assists (56-40) and digs (86-80)
- Florida Southern held a decisive 22-9 edge in blocks
- The Fighting Knights hit .243 and .306 in the first two sets
- An 8-1 run in the first set gave the hosts a 14-5 cushion and two late 3-0 scoring surges sealed the 25-18 victory
- Lynn overcame a one-point deficit in the second set with a 10-2 run for an 18-11 lead

Aline Olegario smacked a pair of kills that sparked a 7-1 run that earned the 25-13 win
- The Mocs turned the tables in the next two sets using a late 5-1 run in the third set to grab a 25-22 win
- Florida Southern surged to a 12-5 lead in the fourth set and later led 19-12 following a 5-1 jolt
- Lynn pulled to within two at 22-20 before the Mocs used two late kills and capitalized on an error for a 25-23 win
- The Fighting Knights opened the fifth set with an 11-0 run for a 12-1 lead
- FSC rattled off six-consecutive points to pull to within 13-8 before two errors sealed the 15-8 win for Lynn
