Lynn stifles USC Aiken for third straight shutout victory

AIKEN, S.C. - Lynn men's soccer picked up its third consecutive shutout victory to begin the season after grabbing a 3-0 win over USC Aiken, Friday night. The Fighting Knights once again dominated in the first half as senior Fabio Menzel scored just 2:38 into the match. Lynn also received goals from graduate student Ricardo Packer Jr. and freshman Oskar Dahlberg in the contest. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Lynn opened the match with a quick strike, as graduate student Luis Kiefer found Menzel for his first goal of the season at 2:38 
- The Fighting Knights posted three shots within the first 10 minutes 
- Sophomore Fabian Vyhnalek assisted a goal by Packer Jr. at 33:18, giving Lynn a 2-0 lead heading into the half 
- Lynn outshot USC Aiken 6-0 in the first half, while the Pacers committed 12 fouls to Lynn's two 
- After not seeing a shot in the first half, sophomore goalkeeper Luca Clavero was subbed out by sophomore Filip Rosandic 
- In the second half, Rosandic made two saves to preserve the tandem shutout 
- At 58:31, Dahlberg found the back of the net, as Kiefer tallied his second assist of the match  
- Kiefer now has two goals and two assists through three games 
- Dahlberg has two goals and is tied with Kiefer for the team lead 
- The Fighting Knights have 22 shots on goal through three games while holding their opponents to just 10 
- Lynn is now 2-0 all time against USC Aiken (won 3-2 in 2009) 
- Lynn has opened the season with three consecutive shutout wins for the first time since 2017, when they began that year with seven straight shutout victories
