LAKELAND, Fla. - Lynn men's basketball dropped a road conference game to Florida Southern on Saturday night, 103-82. Led by Jamison Evans' 19 points, four Fighting Knights scored in double figures in the loss.
The Fighting Knights' first loss since Dec. 18 drops their overall record to 10-3 while holding a 5-2 Sunshine State Conference mark. Florida Southern is 13-4 overall and 7-1 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Lynn took an initial 3-0 lead, Florida Southern did not relinquish the lead for the final 37 minutes
- The Mocs shot 52% from the field, 45% from three-point range and 90% from the free throw line
- Lynn committed 17 turnovers while Florida Southern turned the ball over just seven times
- The Mocs went on a 15-0 run early in the first half
- After being down 12, the Fighting Knights went on a 14-2 run to tie the game, 17-17, with 8:16 remaining in the first half
- Evans, Tradavis Thompson, Nordin Kapic and Jalen Gilmore all knocked down threes during the run, while Ben Gahlert added a dunk
- The Fighting Knights trailed, 44-38, at the half
- Gilmore scored 15 points, going 3-for-3 from deep, and dished out four assists in the first half
- The Mocs scored the first eight points of the second half to take a 52-38 lead
- Lynn was unable to get within single digits as it was outscored 59-44 in the second frame
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Evans had a season-high 19 points and 9 rebounds
- Gilmore went 3-for-5 from deep and is shooting 56.5% from beyond the arc (13-for-23) over his last four games
- Gilmore dished out seven assists to raise his conference-leading average to 6.5
- Gahlert added 10 rebounds and ranks seventh in the SSC with 8.1 per game
- Thompson has scored at least 15 points in each of his last three games
- Lynn made 14 three-pointers, its second most in a game this season (18 on 12/2 vs. Ave Maria)
