Ben Gahlert posted his 6
th double-double of the season in a 96-76 victory over the Saint Leo Lions, propelling the Fighting Knights to a flawless 9-0 record at home. Lynn is now 12-4 overall and 7-3 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights shot 45.7 percent from the floor (37-of-81)
- Lynn scored the first basket and never trailed in the contest
- An early Gahlert layup handed the hosts a 9-2 lead just 2:32 into action
- Gahlert later hit two layups and Lynn extended its first half lead to 10, 21-11, at 12:48
- The Fighting Knights collected a 7-0 run for a 40-23 lead with 6:26 to play
- The Lions closed the first half with an 8-0 run that narrowed their deficit to 50-41 at halftime
- Lynn opened the second half with a 16-6 scoring surge to increase their lead to 68-49 with 13:42 left in the game
- Saint Leo made one final push and cut its defect to 11 with just under 9 minutes to go
- Lynn's lead reached 22, 85-63, behind a 3-pointer from graduate
Jamison Evans that capped an 11-0 run
- Lynn's largest lead was a 25-point gap, 96-71, that came in the second period with 2:24 to play
