MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Tradavis Thompson made clutch basket after clutch basket to help Lynn come back from a 13-point deficit in the second half and force overtime, but the Fighting Fights fell in extra time, 91-86, Saturday night.
Thompson led Lynn with 26 points, while Jamison Evans made seven three-pointers and Ben Gahlert posted a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. The Fighting Knights are now 12-5 overall and 7-4 in the SSC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn caused two early turnovers and jumped out to a 6-0 lead
- Jalen Gilmore scored four points over a 15-second stretch as the Fighting Knights led 11-5 with 15:15 remaining in the first half
- A 6-0 Barry run gave the home team its first lead at 16-15
- Evans responded with his first three of the game as Lynn regained the lead
- Gilmore tied the game at 33 with a minute remaining in the first half
- Barry led by three, 36-33, at the half
- The Buccaneers slowly expanded their lead to 13 with 8:29 left in the second half
- The Fighting Knights made three consecutive three-pointers (two by Evans, one by Gahlert) over a 49-second span to make the score 65-61 in favor of Barry
- After a Barry three, the Fighting Knights trailed 77-70 with three minutes left in regulation
- Rickey Ballard knocked down a jumper to make the score 79-75 with 2:05 showing
- Thompson slashed to the paint and made a layup on two consecutive possessions to tie the game with 1:05 left in the second half
- Thompson then swished a turnaround, fade away jumper with a hand in his face from the top of the key to give Lynn an 81-79 lead with 22 seconds left
- The Buccaneers scored with four seconds left to push the game to overtime
- Tied at 85 with just over two minutes left in overtime, Barry knocked down two consecutive three-pointers to seal the victory for home team, 91-86
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Evans' seven made three-pointers were his most in a game since knocking down a school-record 12 threes on 2/26/2022 against Rollins
- Thompson is averaging 23.7 points per game over his last three contests
- Gahlert had a game-high 15 rebounds and ranks fifth in the SSC with 9.2 rebounds per game
- Lynn is now 6-1 in games decided by six points or fewer
