Women’s tennis tabbed second in SSC Preseason Coaches Poll

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference has announced its 2024 Preseason Coaches Poll and the third-ranked Lynn University women's tennis team has been tabbed to finish in a tie for second place among the league schools.

The Fighting Knights trail No. 1 Barry in the league poll as the Buccaneers received seven first-place votes and 78 points. Barry has won the last six National Championships.

Second-ranked Nova Southeastern grabbed the remaining three first-place votes, while both the Sharks and Fighting Knights each earned 70 points to finish in a tie for second. Fifth-ranked Saint Leo was selected fourth in the SSC.

The top-four teams have remained unchanged in the preseason poll for the past two seasons.

The Fighting Knights won 19 matches a year ago and they return the nation's top singles player in sophomore Salma Djoubri after she captured the ITA Division II National Title during the fall.

The Fighting Knights open the spring season on Friday, Feb. 9 at 10:00 am with a match against St. Thomas.
