BOCA RATON, Fla. – Four different players scored in double figures to power Lynn University to its third-straight win with a narrow 83-82 victory over Eckerd, Wednesday. The Fighting Knights improve to 8-2 overall with a 3-1 mark in the Sunshine State Conference, while the Tritons fall to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Eckerd outscored the Fighting Knights, 47-44 in the first half, while the hosts led 39-35 in scoring in the second stanza
- Lynn shot a season-high 57.7 (30-of-52) percent from the field with 10 three-pointers (10-of-20)
- The score changed hands 13 times and the game was tied on another 13 occasions
- Neither team led by more than five points in the opening half as Eckerd took its largest lead at four, 10-6 with 15:10 showing on the clock
- Lynn rebounded to grab a four-point cushion of its own (18-14) behind a sophomore

Brad McCabe hit a three-pointer at 10:56 and a layup at 8:39 to help Lynn to a 27-25 advantage

Ben Gahlert flushed a baseline dunk for a 39-36 lead, while graduate
Tradavis Thompson hit a layup at 3:01 for a 41-36 lead
- Eckerd closed the first half on an 11-3 run for the 47-44 lead at intermission
- The visitors tried to pull away in the second half as back-to-back threes built their lead to 61-53 with 13:17 showing
- Gilmore hit two three-pointers as part of an 11-3 scoring jolt for Lynn as it tied the game at 64 at 10:48
- Gilmore hit another three-pointer at 7:04 and sophomore
Nordin Kapic converted a traditional three-point play for a 73-69 lead at 5:58
- The Tritons answered with seven-straight points for a 76-72 lead with 5:03 left in regulation
- Gilmore's final three-pointer came with 2:20 left that gave the Fighting Knights an 79-76 lead
- Eckerd made one final push with a basket with 35 seconds left for an 82-81 lead
- Kapic sealed the win with two foul shots with 24 seconds left
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Gilmore had a career-high 22 points and went 6-for-7 from three, surpassing his career high of four three pointers set on 2/18/23 against Saint Leo
- Thompson scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season
- The Fighting Knights are 6-0 at home this season and 4-0 in games decided by six points or fewer
