Evans hits game-winner in victory over Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Graduate student Jamison Evans hit a spinning layup with 1.1 seconds left in overtime to lift Lynn to a 91-89 win over Embry-Riddle, Saturday night. The win is the fourth straight for the Fighting Knights as they improve to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Eagles settle at 8-5 overall and a 2-3 league mark.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn closed the second half on a 12-3 run to tie things at 80 after 40 minutes of action
- Evans started the run with a jumper at 5:36 before adding a dunk at 3:48
- Graduate Tradavis Thompson hit a jumper with 1:00 showing that evened the score at 80-80
- Sophomore Jalen Gilmore hit a three-pointer and a jumper on back-to-back possessions in OT as Lynn led 86-85 with 2:12 to play
- Gilmore hit another three-pointer for an 89-87 lead with 43 seconds left
- After Embry-Riddle tied the game at 89, Evans took the inbounds pass and drove to the paint for the spinning layup (game-winner)
- Lynn trailed by just two at the break, 45-43 and outscored the hosts 48-44 in the second half and OT
- The Fighting Knights shot 53.1 percent (34-of-64) from the field with 11 three-pointers
- Thompson scored nine points inside the first 4:10 to help Lynn to an 11-7 lead
- The Eagles rebounded for a 29-22 lead at 7:44
- Gilmore and sophomore Rickey Ballard hit three-pointers as part of a 8-0 run as Lynn captured a 30-29 lead with 6:32 left in the first half
- The lead flipped back-and-forth 11 times over the remainder of the stanza until Embry-Riddle emerged with a two-point lead at intermission
- Thompson connected on two jumpers to open the second half as Lynn grabbed a 47-46 lead
- Cameron Shockley-Oke knocked down back-to-back three-pointers and Embry-Riddle snared a 52-47 lead at 17:10
- The Eagles increased their lead to seven, 68-61 just inside 10 minutes remaining in regulation
- Evans hit a three at 7:48 as Lynn narrowed its deficit to three, 69-66
- The hosts pushed their lead back to nine, 77-68 at 6:35
- Lynn's 12-3 run over the final 6:35 helped seal the come-from-behind victory
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Sophomore Nordin Kapic finished with 26 points and seven rebounds
- Ballard and Thompson finished with 17 and 15, respectively
- Gilmore finished with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steal
- Evans contributed 11 points
