BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn women's basketball dropped its home conference match with Eckerd, 69-56, Wednesday evening. The Fighting Knights held a seven-point lead at the half, but a 24-10 spurt for the Tritons in the third quarter proved to be the difference.
Danielle Montelbano (19),
Marianna Klavina (12) and
Ella Fiore (11) all scored in double digits for Lynn in the loss. The Fighting Knights are now 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Montelbano hit a three-pointer to cap a 7-0 Lynn run to start the game
- The Fighting Knights never trailed in the first quarter and held a 19-14 lead heading into the second

- Eckerd's Lauryn Vieira made a three to put the visitors within one, 29-28, with 3:19 remaining in the first half
- The Fighting Knights closed the first half on a 6-0 run to take a 35-28 lead into the break
- The Tritons used a 12-0 run early in the third quarter to take their first lead of the game
- Fiore's offensive rebound and layup gave Lynn its first points of the fourth quarter with 5:50 remaining
- Montelbano cut Eckerd's lead to single digits with a three-point play with 2:21 left in the fourth
- Vieira's layup in the final minute gave her 43 points for the game and finalized a 69-56 win for Eckerd

- Montelbano scored a season-high 19 points and is averaging 15.4 points over her last seven games
- Klavina had a season-high 12 points and posted her sixth multi-steal game of the season
