Strong third quarter not enough in road loss to Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Lynn women's basketball team lost its road Sunshine State Conference game to No. 14 Embry-Riddle, Saturday night. The Fighting Knights finished the third quarter on a 13-0 run, however Embry-Riddle steadied the ship in the fourth quarter to win by 14. Lynn was led by reigning SSC Player of the Week, Ella Fiore, who posted 12 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal. 

The Fighting Knights are now 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the SSC while the Eagles improved to 9-3 and 3-2 in the league. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Trinity Mocadlo stopped an Embry-Riddle 12-2 run to open the game with a three pointer 
- Fiore followed with a steal and layup as Lynn trailed 12-7 
- The Eagles scored seven of the final nine points in the first quarter to lead by 10 
- Embry-Riddle led by as many as 22 in the second quarter as it took a 38-19 lead into the break 
- Fiore made a layup to open the third quarter  
- After trailing by 23, the Fighting Knights closed the third quarter on a 13-0 run, as Danielle Montelbano (6), Bella Sparaco (4) and Rachel Romich (3) contributed points during the scoring spurt 
- Lynn was unable to cut its deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter as the Eagles prevailed, 65-51 

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Montelbano went 4-for-4 from the free throw line and is shooting 97% (28-for-29) from the charity stripe over her last six games 
- Fiore blocked multiple shots in a game for the fifth time this season and ranks third in the SSC in blocks per game (1.3) 
- Mocadlo went 2-for-4 from three-point range for her sixth game of the season with multiple threes 
- Romich contributed two more blocks and now has six over her last three games 
- Carly Stroemel went 3-for-4 from the field to raise her season field goal percentage to 49.4% 
- The Fighting Knights went a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line while the Eagles were 12-for-14
