Lynn’s five-game winning streak halted by No. 16 NSU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn women's basketball had its five-game winning streak snapped against sixteenth ranked Nova Southeastern by a score of 58-36, Wednesday night. Lynn senior Ella Fiore led all scorers with 14 points in the loss.
Lynn is now 12-8 overall and 7-5 in the Sunshine State Conference, while NSU jumps to 16-3 and 11-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn jumped out to a quick start with layups by Rachel Romich and Fiore to go up 4-0
- Nova followed with a 10-3 run to take a three point lead
- Trinity Mocadlo's layup closed out the first quarter with Lynn trailing by one, 12-11
- The Fighting Knights once again closed the gap to within one on Fiore's jumper with 8:45 remaining in the second quarter
- The Sharks went on an 11-0 run over the next seven minutes
- Lynn made just two field goals in the second quarter and trailed 32-15 at the half
- The Sharks led by as many as 25 in the third quarter
- Makayla Hemingway scored seven of Lynn's 11 points in the third quarter
- Fiore went on a solo 6-0 run early in the fourth quarter to cut Lynn's deficit to under 20 points, 51-32, with 6:36 remaining in regulation
- The Fighting Knights shot 50% in the fourth quarter and outscored Nova by one for a 58-36 final score in favor of the visitors

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lynn and Nova Southeastern split the season series with each visiting team winning
- Stroemel blocked three shots to raise her season average to 1.4 (3rd in SSC)
- All seven of Hemingway's points came in the third quarter
- Romich had a team-high five assists and two steals
- Lynn set a season low with three made free throws and tied a season low with one made three-pointer
- The Fighting Knights held their opponent under 40% shooting for the seventh straight game
