Lynn extends win streak to seven in victory over No. 24 Barry

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 17th-ranked Lynn volleyball team defeated No. 24 Barry in four sets (27-25, 25-22, 19-25, 27-25) to improve to 19-1 overall and 9-1 in the SSC. Maria Cecilia Pinho (19 kills, 13 digs), Samantha Wolf (14 kills, 15 digs) and Fabia Gonzalez Stanton (11 kills, 10 digs) all posted double-doubles in the win.

Additionally, the Lynn women's swimming 2024 NCAA National Champion 200 medley relay team was honored with a banner at the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center between sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Aline Olegario and Stanton each had a pair of kills during a 6-1 run to open the first set
- Ula Gorjup served an ace as Lynn took a 9-2 advantage
- Barry responded with a 10-3 run to tie the set at 12
- Back-to-back kils by Wolf tied the score, 19-19
- Tied at 25, an attack error by Barry and a kill by Wolf ended the set in favor of Lynn, 27-25
- The Buccaneers opened the second set on a 10-4 run
- Pinho posted five kills as Lynn took a 16-14 lead during a 12-4 run
- Barry led 21-20 before the Fighting Knights captured five of the final six points
- Samantha Blahut's kill gave the Blue and White a 25-22 set win and 2-0 lead
- The Buccaneers again started strong in the third set with five of the first six points
- The Fighting Knights used an 11-2 jolt, capped off by another Gorjup ace, to lead 10-7
- Barry ended the set on an 8-1 run for a 25-19 set win
- Two straight kills by Stanton gave Lynn an 8-4 lead in the fourth set
- A pair of Wolf kills and ace by Joelle Alexander highlighted a 5-1 Lynn run for a 13-7 advantage
- Pinho's kill put the Fighting Knights in command, 18-11
- Barry fought back and used a 5-0 run to tie the set at 21 apiece
- The Bucs had a set point but Stanton's kill evened the score, 25-25
- Isabella Gentile served an ace and Pinho followed with a crosscourt kill for the 27-25 win

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Hope Passerello dished out 44 assists and was second on the team with 18 digs
- Gentile led all players with 29 digs
- Olegario has recorded 10+ kills in five of her last nine matches
- Blahut hit .400 and recorded seven kills
- Gorjup has served multiple aces in a match seven times this season and has 28 on the year
- The Fighting Knights set a season high with 93 digs
