BOCA RATON, Fla. – After taking a two-set lead, the Lynn volleyball team fought off two Nova Southeastern match points and ended the deciding fifth set on a 4-0 run in a win over the Sharks, Friday night (25-18, 25-22, 19-25, 21-25, 16-14).
Lynn has now won at least 20 matches in three consecutive seasons, as it improves to 20-1 overall and 10-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn hit .314 in the opening set

Maria Cecilia Pinho and
Aline Olegario combined for five kills on a 5-0 run to take an early lead
- After the Sharks grabbed a 14-12 lead, the Fighting Knights went on a 7-1 run to lead by four, 19-15

Hope Passerello added a kill and an ace as Lynn led 22-17
- Three consecutive points gave Lynn a 25-18 set win on kills by
Samantha Blahut and
Samantha Wolf, as well as an ace by Wolf to finish the set

Fabia Gonzalez Stanton capped off a 6-1 run with a kill to open the second set
- After the Sharks once again came back to lead 14-12, Passerello highlighted a 5-0 run with a pair of aces
- A kill and ace by Stanton finished off the last two points of the set for a 25-22 win and 2-0 lead
- The Fighting Knights led 15-13 in the third set, but the Sharks retaliated with a 9-1 run and eventually won 25-19
- A close fourth set saw 11 ties

Isabella Gentile's ace gave Lynn a 6-3 lead , however NSU ended the set on a 7-1 run to force a deciding fifth set
- Nova Southeastern opened a 4-1 lead in the final set
- A pair of kills by Stanton highlighted a 4-0 Lynn run to take the lead, 5-4
- NSU regained the lead at 8-6, but kills by Stanton and Wolf once again tied the match
- The Sharks had a two match points with a 14-12 lead
- The Fighting Knights ended the match on a 4-0 run, as Olegario kept Lynn alive with a pair of kills and Passerello's kill finished off the dramatic victory
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lynn led in kills (64-57), aces (9-5), assists (59-48) and digs (99-83)
- Passerello led Lynn with a .316 hitting percentage, 47 assists and four aces
- Cecilia Pinho, Olegario and Wolf tied for the game lead with 14 kills
- Wolf (14 kills, 18 digs) posted her fourth consecutive double-double, while Stanton (11 kills, 15 digs) recorded a double-double for the second time this week
- Gentile had a game high 38 digs
- Lynn is averaging 2.1 aces per set this season, nearly double (1.1) its opponents
- The Fighting Knights set a season high with 99 digs, surpassing their 93 digs from Tuesday's win against Barry
- Lynn leads the SSC in opponent hitting percentage (.130), opponent assists (9.07/set) and opponent kills (9.72/set)
