Lynn hands Tampa first SSC loss

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 1 Lynn University men soccer team extended its unbeaten run to eight games after defeating No. 17 Tampa, 2-0, Saturday night.  
The Fighting Knights scored their two goals in the last 20 minutes of the game to remain the best DII team in the nation, currently 8-0-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the SSC.  
  
HOW IT HAPPENED:  
- Lynn kicked off the match with the first shot of the game from Luan Barroso Rennstich in the 13th minute  
- Dominik N'gatie took a shot against Spartan goalkeeper Alex Hare that was saved in the 27th minute of the first half  
- Lynn closed out the half with a double opportunity in the last two minutes  
- Tony Gomez aimed for the top right corner with a header that was ultimately saved by Hare  
- Anton Mand fired a shot with 43:27 on the board that went in the middle of the net, caught by Hare 
- Lynn raised the intensity levels in the 68th minute of the match with four-consecutive shots on net  
- Barroso Rennsitch whipped in a cross from a corner kick with 73:28 on the clock that locked on to Gomez's head  
- The powerful header found the back of the net, giving the Fighting Knights a 1-0 lead with less than 17 minutes left to play  
- In the 80th minute, Luca Clavero sent a long ball up the middle that was headed off from Luis Kiefer and fell to the feet of N'gatie  
- N'gatie beat the last defender and tucked the ball in between the Hare's legs to double the lead, 2-0 with 9:23 left in the game  
  
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
 
- Barroso Rennsitch collected his fifth assist of the season and is tied for the team lead with Fabian Vyhnalek  
- Gomez scored his second goal for the Fighting Knights this season  
- N'gatie scored his first goal of the season  
- Lynn leads the SSC with 27 goals, averaging 3.375 goals per game  
- Lynn leads the conference with 23 assists  
- The Fighting Knights are one of the best defensive teams in the conference with five goals against, tied with PBA and Nova Southeastern  
- The Fighting Knights outshot the Spartans 17-6  
- Clavero made three crucial saves in the second half to secure his fifth shutout  
- He is ranked third in the SSC with five goals against
