Lynn shuts out Saint Leo to secure share of Sunshine State Conference title

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 16th-ranked Lynn volleyball team defeated Saint Leo in straight sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-9) on Friday night at the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center. The Fighting Knights hit .344 while holding the Lions to just .091. The Blue and White have posted five straight sweeps and 20 overall in 2024.

Lynn has earned at least a share of the conference title, sitting at 16-3 in the Sunshine State Conference and 26-3 overall with one game remaining in the regular season.  
  
HOW IT HAPPENED:   
- Fabia Gonzalez Stanton's kill gave Lynn a 9-4 lead in the first set
- Samantha Wolf and Maria Cecilia Pinho added kills during a 4-0 Lynn run
- The Lions used a 5-0 run to climb within four, 20-16
- Kills by Aline Olegario and Stanton powered a 5-0 run to close out the first set
- Wolf's ace capped a 4-0 start to the second set
- Two kills by Wolf and an ace by Ula Gorjup led a 5-0 spurt for the Fighting Knights to take a 14-6 lead
- Isabella Gentile's ace finished the set, 25-19
- Gorjup served three aces during a 5-0 opening to the third set
- Samantha Blahut started a 5-1 Lynn run with a kill as Lynn led 10-3
- Lillia Neill's kill began a run of four straight Lynn points to finish the match with a 25-9 set win
  
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:   
- Pinho led all players with 13 kills, hitting an impressive .619   
- Stanton followed with 10 kills and hit .421   
- Wolf added 8 kills, 11 digs, and three service aces   
- Gorjup tallied 35 assists and five service aces   
- Olegario contributed four kills and two blocks,
- Blahut had four kills, hit .429 and added five block assists   
- Lynn posted 10+ aces in a match for the seventh time this season
