BOCA RATON, Fla. – Junior
Braydon Iuli hit the game-winning jumper in the paint with seven seconds left to lift the Lynn University men's basketball team to a 66-64 win over visiting Eckerd in SSC action, Saturday evening. Lynn improves to 2-1 overall on the season and is 1-0 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game was tied twice and Lynn never trailed on the scoreboard
- The Fighting Knights knocked down 27 baskets and shot 39.7% from the field, but the Tritons made two more three-pointers and eight more free throws to keep things close
- The Blue and White scored 42 points in the paint and turned 15 turnovers into 18 points

Leo Beath scored five points in the opening few moments and Iuli hit a three-pointer at 13:08 for a 14-7 lead
- Graduate
Carson Smith connected on back-to-back layups for a 28-18 lead with 5:42 left in the opening half
- Senior
Antoine Jacks hit a three-pointer at 4:30 and Smith added two more layups as Lynn's lead ballooned to 18, 39-21
- The Tritons made two late threes to cut the deficit to 39-27 at the break
- Eckerd continued the momentum into the second half as they further trimmed the deficit to four, 39-35, just 1:18 into the second half
- Lynn increased its lead back to 10, 51-41, when Jacks hit a layup at 13:55
- Eckerd slowly used the remainder of the game to tie the score late
- The visitors knocked down two free throws at 6:39 and trailed by just four at 58-54
- Jacks hit a three at 6:20, but again Eckerd didn't back down and pulled to within three, 61-58 at 5:39
- Two foul shots at 2:36 and Eckerd was down just one, 63-62
- The Tritons tied the game for just the second time on the evening with a jumper with 33 seconds left
- On the ensuing trip down the floor, Iuli dribbled into the paint and connected on the game winner with seven seconds left in regulation
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Beath paced Lynn with 18 points to go along with seven rebounds, two three-pointers and two assists
- Smith added 12 points with four steals and three assists
- Iuli finished with 12 points and 10 boards
- Jacks scored 12 points with four rebounds and four assists
