BOCA RATON, Fla. – Carson Smith scored a game-high 18 points as the Lynn University men's basketball team secured an 88-47 victory in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
The Fighting Knights jumped out to an early lead, shooting 53% from the field in the first half. Lynn's stifling defense held the Beavers to just 19 points in the second half, improving its overall record to 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn built a 19-point lead by halftime, scoring 47 total points in the first half

Leo Beath scored the opening points for Lynn with a slam dunk after winning the tip-off, putting the Fighting Knights up 2-0
- The team went on an 8-0 run after Smith made a driving layup in the paint with 16:46 left in the half, extending the lead to 13-4

Sveinn Birgisson nailed his first three-pointer of the season to give Lynn an 11-point lead, 20-9, with 13 minutes left in the half

Antoine Jacks scored a driving layup on a fast break off a turnover to maintain a double-digit lead with 5:41 on the clock, 33-20
- Two made free throws from Smith gave the Fighting Knights a 19-point lead, their largest of the half, at 44-25
- Smith hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer off a turnover to keep the 19-point gap at halftime, 47-28
- Lynn opened the second half with a 9-0 run in the first three minutes

Braydon Iuli scored from beyond the arc off a turnover to give Lynn a 31-point lead with 14:26 to play
- Another eight-point run for Lynn resulted in its second-largest lead of the game at 37 points, 73-36, with 8:30 remaining

Noah Kattan to maintain a 36-point cushion with 2:14 left in the game, 81-45
- Wilkins closed out the game with a jumper in the paint after securing a defensive rebound, finalizing the score at 88-47

- Lynn finished with a 51% field goal percentage compared to Bemidji's 30% and shot 38% from three-point range versus the Beavers' 18%

- The team also dished out 25 assists and made 13 three-pointers
