TAMPA, Fla. – The Fighting Knights softball team lost to No. 4 Tampa, 8-0, in five innings on Saturday morning. The first pitch was moved to 9:30 am due to inclement weather in the forecast later in the day. Lynn was out-hit 12-4 in the game and is now 4-11 overall this year and 0-3 in the Sunshine State Conference. Tampa improves to 9-2 and 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Morgan Simpson led off the game with a single but was left stranded at second
- The Spartans used three singles and a sac bunt to score two runs in the bottom of the first inning
- Tampa added two more runs in the third inning to double its lead to 4-0

Maiya Reinhart went the other way for a base hit and
Teagan Riley followed with a pinch-hit single up the middle, but Tampa was able to make the final two outs of the fourth inning and keep Lynn from scoring
- The Spartans added three more runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-0 lead
- In the bottom of the fifth, all the with two outs, Tampa loaded the bases and then ended the game with an RBI single for an 8-0 final
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Sunga went 1-for-2 to raise her season batting average to .423
- Reinhart went 1-for-2 and is hitting .350 in 2024
- Simpson went 4-for-10 (.400 BA) in the weekend series
