Lovins drives home two, Lynn rallies past Eckerd

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Olivia Lovins smacked a two-run double as part of three-run fourth inning, as the Fighting Knights rallied past Eckerd for a 6-4 win in Sunshine State Conference action, Friday afternoon. Lynn is now 5-11 overall on the season and 1-3 in SSC action. The Tritons slip to 4-11 and 0-4.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams scored in the first inning to set the tone
- Eckerd's Ella Coiner scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead
- Lynn answered in the home half of the frame when Morgan Simpson singled, stole second and eventually scored on an error to knot things at 1-1
- Eliza Gonzalez reached on the same error and later scored on a fielder's choice from Teagan Riley
- The Tritons recaptured the lead in the top of the third with three runs that were accented by a two-run single
- The Fighting Knights brought their deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the third when Ky Sunga hit a sacrifice fly to right field that plated Gonzalez
- In the bottom of the fourth, Lynn snared a 6-4 lead with three runs
- Lovins smacked a two-run double that scored Josey Sumpter and Aryana Galioto and she later scored the third run on a single from Simpson
- Sumpter, pitching in relief, induced three straight ground outs in the top of the seventh for a 6-4 Fighting Knights win
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Madison Prickett earned the win in the circle, tossing 4.0 innings and allowing four runs (two earned)
- Sumpter entered in the fourth as a pinch runner and then tossed three scoreless innings in relief of Prickett for the save
- Lovins finished 3-for-3 with a double, run scored and two RBI
- Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with two runs scored
- Simpson (3-for-4), Riley (1-for-3) and Sunga (0-for-1) all drove in a run
- Simpson leads the SSC with 16 stolen bases this season
