No. 23 Lynn sweeps doubleheader at Eckerd

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The 23rd ranked Lynn baseball team won both games of its Saturday doubleheader at Eckerd, winning game one 6-2 and following with an 8-2 victory in the night cap. The opener was led by Bryce Pratt's quality start and Cole Fowler's four hits, while game two saw Drew Clark pitch 4.2 innings of scoreless relief, Shawn Dougherty post three hits and Jesse Robinson score three times.

Lynn took two out of three in the series and is now 10-4 overall and 2-1 in the Sunshine State Conference, while Eckerd moves to 6-6 and 1-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Pratt struck out two batters in each of the second and third innings
- Fowler and Dougherty singled and scored on Deric LaMontagne's three-run homer to right-center field to give Lynn a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth
- Lynn started the fifth inning with back-to-back walks by AJ Orrico and Jesse Robinson
- Orrico scored on Fowler's opposite field single and Fowler later scored on LaMontagne's double down the line
- Eckerd scored in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 6-1
- Robinson singled to lead off the ninth and later scored on Juan Carlos Camarena's base hit
- The Tritons opened the bottom of the ninth with a single and double to score a run before Joel Hayner came in to get the final two outs

- Pratt's pitching line: 6.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, BB, 5 SO
- Hayner now has four saves this season
- Fowler went 4-for-5 for his fifth multi-hit game in his last six games
- LaMontagne drove in four of Lynn's six runs
- Robinson went 2-for-4 for his fifth multi-hit game of the season
- The Fighting Knights tied a season-high with 14 hits (also 2/1 vs. Washburn and 2/15 at Lane)
- Lynn pitchers tied a season high with nine strikeouts (also 2/8 vs. Erskine and 2/15 at Lane)

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Lynn began the game with four consecutive hits to plate three runs
- Orrico singled, Robinson doubled, Fowler drove in Orrico with a single and Dougherty finished the rally with a two-run triple
- The Fighting Knights put up another crooked number in the third inning
- LaMontagne's opposite field single drove in Robinson
- With the bags juiced, Cristian Otero hit a bases-clearing triple to score LaMontagne, JC Camarena and Fowler
- The Tritons scored in the bottom of the third for their first run
- Eckerd cut its deficit to four, 7-3, with three singles and two walks in the bottom of the fourth
- A 4-6-3 double play got Lynn out of the bottom of the sixth inning with the score still 7-3
- Four walks led to a run for Lynn in the top of the ninth, as JC Camarena drew a five-pitch free pass to score Robinson
- Hunter Shew struck out Eckerd's final batter in the ninth to complete the 8-3 win

- Clark's pitching line: 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 2 SO
- Dougherty went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and extended his hitting streak to 10 games
- Fowler extended his RBI streak to eight consecutive games
- LaMontagne drove in six runs during the three-game series
- Orrico posted a hit for the ninth straight game
- Robinson has scored eight times in his last five games
- The Fighting Knights have posted 10+ hits in eight of their last nine games
- Lynn drew 10 walks over the two games
